Saint Andrew’s Groups & Organizations

Brotherhood of Saint Andrew: The Brotherhood of Saint Andrew is a men’s group focused on prayer, study, and service. The group meets at 7:30 a.m. each Saturday for a prayer service and twice monthly from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. for Bible study, coffee, and cake. The Brotherhood is open to men who are interested in serving and worshipping the Lord and participating in the work of St. Andrew’s.[/acc_item]

Daughters of the King: The Daughters of the King are part of an international community of women who are committed to prayer, service, and evangelism. Here at St. Andrew’s, the St. Marie’s chapter, we maintain a prayer list that includes requests from parishioners, family, friends, and anyone we might encounter who needs prayer – maintaining confidentiality as requested. We also sponsor gatherings to help the women of the parish to grow and deepen their relationship with God, Christian traditions, and beyond.

We began a relationship with the women of the Wheaton Islamic Center over the past year to build bridges and deepen our understanding of the Muslim Faith. We have also included our DOK sisters from St. Barnabas and Calvary, Lombard in our various activities, as their membership is smaller.

Daughters of the King is not a committee, but instead is known as an order – a group who choose to live within the confines of certain vows. We complete a study as a group with each new member to help prepare them for membership. Upon becoming a Daughter, we commit to following a lifelong Rule of Life which includes “prayer, service, and evangelism”, to offer “loyal aid” to our clergy and parish, and to faithfully wear the cross of the order. The blue color you may see us wear or display from time to time is the official color of the order.

Episcopal Church Women: ECW provides the women of St. Andrew’s with many opportunities for fun and fellowship throughout the year. ALL women of the parish are automatically members and are welcome to attend ALL events!

ECW organizes events for fellowship such as salad suppers, game nights, and the cookie walk; raises funds for the  parish such as stain glass window repair and kitchen supplies; and supports outreach organizations such as Hope’s Front Door, People’s Resource Center and Cathedral Shelter.

The organization’s largest annual fundraising effort is Scrips/ECW Dollars. To find out more about how that works, see the information in the Gathering Space or talk to one of the volunteers at the ECW table during coffee hour.

St. Lucia’s Guild: Members of St. Lucia’s Guild meet the third Wednesday of each month, September through May, to share friendship and promote the group’s charitable projects and those of the ECW. ALL women of the Parish are welcome to join. The Guild hosts a brunch for parishioners on Ash Wednesday, holds a “baby shower” for Stroger Hospital, and provides items for a Cathedral Shelter Christmas Basket, among other charitable activities. Special meetings include an annual Christmas luncheon and end-of-year meeting and luncheon.[/acc_item]

Small Group Bible Study: The small groups meet weekly for Christian study and discussion, sharing and prayer. Meetings are held on Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. in Room 4. Anyone who enjoys group fellowship and studying the Bible and Christian books is welcome to join. The typical time commitment is 1½ hours weekly, plus preparation. Reading before the meetings is not required.
