Cal Turner

Cal Turner has been a member of St. Andrews for almost 30 years.  At that time, he was living in Lisle and accepted an invitation from a neighbor (those invites actually work).  Since then, he has been very involved, and serves as an Usher and a Eucharistic Minister.

Cal was born and raised in Chicago.  After high school, he joined the military.  He served our country as a Marine from 1966-1969, during the heart of the Vietnam War.  Luckily, he didn’t spend any time “in country”.   His job was in information technology, or IT.  After the Marines, he used these skills in his career, first with Spiegel and then United Insurance.

When not at St. Andrew’s, he spends a considerable amount of time at the Theater of Western Springs, a world class community theater right in our back yard.  He started volunteering there in 1975, and began by working the lights.   Cal has done everything from lighting to directing, stage manager, and even some acting.  Currently, he is working the lights for Little Shop of Horrors, which runs from June 2-12.  (For more information talk to Cal, or visit their website at www.theaterofwesternsprings.com).

It seems that Cal’s calling is service whether to our church, the community, or our country.  Thanks for all you do!
